
GEOFFREY BAKER, violist
Geoffrey Baker, violist, has performed chamber music, solo recitals, and with ensembles from Harrisburg to Atlantic City, including the Reading Symphony Orchestra and the Riverside Symphonia as guest principal viola, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Philly Pops.
Geoffrey earned degrees from Johns Hopkins and Yale universities, where he studied at the Peabody Conservatory and the Yale School of Music, and also attended Northern Illinois University and the Eastman School. He learned from artists including Jesse Levine, Joseph de Pasquale, Richard Young, and the Tokyo and Vermeer string quartets.
Following masterclasses at the American Conservatory of Fontainebleau and the Academie de Musique de Biarritz, France, Geoffrey was a special guest of the American Institute for Musical Studies (AIMS) Festival Opera Orchestra in Graz, Austria.
Whether performing with orchestra with acclaimed artists like Earth Wind and Fire and Arlo Guthrie or playing jazz and blues at a local open mic, Geoffrey enjoys music of many hues and colors, including Celtic with Jay Ansill, Turkish and Sephardic with David’s Harp, Arabian with the Al-Bustan Ensemble, and complete Beatles albums with noted rock band Fooling April.
Recently, he has been performing with and co-directing Fine Art Music Company’s concert series, MUSIC AT ETHICAL ~ CONCERTS ON THE SQUARE.
