March 17, 2013 – “A LEAP OF ROMANTICISM”

Ludwig van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven

Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 2:15 to 5:00pm

“A LEAP OF ROMANTICISM“

Crossing the defining lines of classic and romantic periods; the composer creates it, and we must grab it. Pursuing the inner beauty of op.109, a most extraordinary Beethoven piano sonata.

Through the creative force of imagination, Beethoven bursts into deep romanticism with his stunning op.109 Piano Sonata in E major. A towering giant among musicians through his time, this composer left us unforgettable works, many of which continually aspire to great musical heights of drama and expression.  We will experience this in the music itself, listening to explore what is at work in the late sonata; and lead up to it by way of his great and tempestuous “Tempest” Sonata, op.31 #2. Pianist, Rollin Wilber
